Description

Luffa acutangula is a one-year-old, quickly growing, strong tendril which can become 10 metres high to and about change-constant, big, easily hairy, mostly heart-shaped to round, deep-green sheets with sawed edges disposes. The tendril trains up to 60-cm-long, hanging, zehnrippige fruits which are thickened to the point. The wing cucumber is pulled as a rule on racks and is extremely productive – one single plant can train up to 25 fruits.

Use

Wing cucumbers have a slightly spongy texture. Raw they taste watery, freshly, slightly mawkishly and also easily säuerlich, now and then zitronig. They have a tender, rather own aroma, rather to green sow's beans reminded then in Zuchini or cucumber. Cooked schmekcken them rather like courgette. Before use one should remove the hard ribs with a Sparschäler – one is able to do the rest of the skin mitessen, above all with younger and more tender copies. Wing cucumbers can be stewed like Zuchini or be roasted and own itself also as an insert for omelette or soups.
